Maintains technical knowledge of all new slot product and trains technicians on new platforms, technologies and procedures.  Leads Project Crew on slot projects by delegating as required, and works with the crew to accomplish the daily objectives. Train new and current technicians on all aspects of the Utility Tech and Slot Tech positions in accordance with standards set forth by management. Perform the technical duties of the Slot Project Supervisor and/or System Technician in their absence.  Perform responsibilities in accordance with all company standards, policies, and procedures.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for practicing, supporting, and promoting Thunder Valley Casino’s "Winning Attitude" Company-wide culture and demonstrating Thunder Valley Casino’s AAA Four Diamond Service Standards at all times.

  • Oversee slot machine moves and installations, conversions, upgrades and removals.  Install and remove signage.  Ensure proper procedures are being followed at all times in respect to machine optioning and testing.
  • Ensures proper Safety procedures are being followed at all times.
  • Responsible for machine setup training and works with TGA to option and configure machines involved in projects.
  • Able to pull, relocate and terminate data cables when assistance is needed from the System Technician.
  • Troubleshoot, install and repair system related failures including but not limited to player tracking and progressive systems.
  • Able to fill in for Slot Project Supervisor as needed to process moves, conversions, and adds in Machine Accounting.
  • Coordinates training for Slot Technicians and Utility Technicians on each shift as needed for new product and platforms.
  • Reports progress in abilities as well as areas of needed improvement directly to Slot Technical Manager and gives recommendations for promotional opportunities..
  • Organize and maintain all training resources for easy access. Work with vendors to acquire new training material and resources for new products and technologies as they are released.
  • Teaches advanced troubleshooting concepts and how to narrow down and isolate faults, and then how to repair them properly.
  • Maintain up to date technical knowledge and continually self-educates on technologies and products applicable to the future needs of the department.
  • Continually works to expand and improve upon the comprehensive technical training program to meet the overall needs of the department. 
  • Promotes positive guest experiences through courteous service and respectful communication.
  • Evaluate the activities of all subordinate team members and coach when necessary on proper procedure.
  • Comply with all Slot Department policies and provide constructive feedback to Slot Department Management on necessary changes and improvements.
  • Ability to have clear, friendly and positive communication with internal and external guests.
  • Be aware of and updated on all upcoming events and promotions.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Three to five years Slot Technician experience required.
  • One year or more of supervisory experience preferred.  
  • Degree in Electronics preferred, but not required. 
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High School education or equivalent required.
  • Must be able to obtain a Tribal License to work in the casino.
  • Must have a valid California driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Must have advanced computer skills in the use of MS Office applications.  Must also possess proficient resource skills when utilizing Internet Explorer to find available training materials and documentation.  Knowledge in MS Access, Project, and SharePoint preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, such as policy and procedure manuals, training material, and other related documents. Ability to respond to inquiries from team members or guests.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Be able to multi task while still maintaining a positive attitude and a smile!
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests, team members and management in both written and verbal form.
  • Have basic math skills.
  • Maintain positive and effective working relationships with other team members, management, guests and other departments.
  • Have working knowledge of Title 31 requirements and internal control policies.
  • Follow all Responsible Gaming Guidelines.  For example, self-limiting requests and checking identifications for individuals who appear under 30 years of age.
  • Understand and practice Thunder Valley’s Core Values.
  • Understand and comply with all company and department rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
