This position is responsible for supporting the effective overall operation of the Engineering Department in meeting the 24-hour demands of a successful Hotel/Casino operation. Position purpose is to respond to job assignments in the repairing, installation, and preventive maintenance of all mechanical equipment and related components as directed. Perform all responsibilities in accordance with all Company standards, policies, and procedures.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for practicing, supporting, and promoting Thunder Valley Casino’s "Winning Attitude" Company-wide culture and demonstrating the AAA 4-Diamond standards at all times. 
  • Works under the supervision of the Shift Supervisor.
  • Makes all necessary repairs to maintain the properties operations.
  • Responds to all internal and external guest complaints promptly and efficiently to avoid guest inconvenience or discomfort.
  • Becomes thoroughly familiar with all systems throughout the property.
  • Maintains all electrical tools and maintenance equipment.
  • Ensures that all established rules, regulations, policies and procedures are strictly adhered to.
  • Performs all other duties, which may be assigned by the Facilities Manager, Director of Facilities, or any other authorized Supervisors.
  • Formulate bill of materials to accomplish all tasks.
  • Systematically prepare for job assignments, ensuring necessary equipment, parts and materials are available and ensuring tasks can be accomplished efficiently and safely.
  • Have knowledge of MSDS booklet location for your area.
  • Be familiar with OSHA safety codes regarding chemicals and electrical equipment.
  • Requires the ability to use and carry job related equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent with at least 2 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be able to obtain a Tribal License to work in the casino.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Guests, Team Members and Management in both written and verbal form.
  • Have knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures and relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
  • Must have started certification courses in inspecting, repairing, installing, modifying, and maintaining electrical/electronic systems, circuits and equipment.
  • Must have started certification courses in testing continuity of circuits to ensure safety, using volt/ohmmeter. Ability to read and interpret blue prints, schematic drawings, and technical specifications, etc.


Physical Requirements:


  • Requires the physical ability to stand and walk for duration of shift. 
  • Requires bending, stooping and reaching from floor level.
  • Requires crawling in attic areas, climbing ladders and stairs.
  • May require lifting, transporting pushing, pulling and maneuvering large loads weighing up to 75 lbs. with or without assistance.
  • Requires hand/eye coordination and depth perception.
  • Manual dexterity to operate hand and foot controls.
  • Requires normal, corrective vision range, the ability to see color and the ability to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols.
