Reporting directly to the Director of Food & Beverage, the Beverage Manager will provide strategic leadership and direction to ensure all Beverage Team Members will achieve their goals and contribute to the guest experience and overall profitability of Thunder Valley Casino Resort whilst maintaining the highest Four Diamond standards of guest service.

Essential Functions

  • Is responsible for practicing, supporting, and promoting Thunder Valley Casino Resort’s “Winning Attitude” company-wide culture and demonstrating AAA Four Diamond guest service standards at all times.
  • Executes all Beverage department job responsibilities by enforcing Thunder Valley Casino Resort’s policies and procedures fairly amongst all Team Members and in accordance with company’s negotiated union contract.
  • Understands and follows all policies and procedures as directed by management, suggesting and initiating necessary changes and improvements. 
  • Serves alcohol responsibly in accordance with alcohol awareness training and local and federal laws.
  • Trains Beverage Management to Four Diamond Guest Service. 
  • Conducts Assistant Beverage Managers’ annual performance reviews. 
  • Responds to front of house guest issues and solves guest service problems in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Practices and observes safety rules and regulations and encourage others to do so. Complies with Board of Health Standards and ensures cleanliness of all Beverage areas. Ensures Team Member safety and displays knowledge of all emergency procedures. Has knowledge of MSDS booklet as appropriate for Beverage operations.
  • Sets schedules in collaboration with Thunder Valley Casino Resort scheduling department, and manages labor for casino floor, all beverage bars, seasonal staffing, summer pool bar and portable floor bars.
  • Sets floor station labor allocation charts and is responsible for posting and bidding out shifts as they come available.
  • Interviews, hires and trains new Team Members utilizing the Job Coach Program and effectively auditing to ensure training standards are satisfied.
  • Does quality control of products and service conducive to excellent and consistent quality presentation of service to a Four Diamond image.
  • Evaluates and oversees job performance of all beverage Team Members. Holds individual subordinates accountable for performance of job duties, tasks, policies and procedures in line with the Collective Bargaining Agreement for all hourly Team Members.
  • Is responsible for financial and P&L accountability of the Beverage Department as well as beer, wine and liquor inventories, labor cost, beverage costs, expenses.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests, Team Members and management in English in both written and verbal form.
  • Minimum of 2 years high volume casino Food & Beverage Management experience in a Four Diamond operation as head of department and a minimum of 2 years beverage manager experience. Proven ability to manage a team of 150 or more associates in a collective bargaining unit.
  • Ability to handle a flexible schedule.
  • Time management skills—able to delegate, empower and evaluate management and hourly Team Member’s to achieve desired objectives/standards---with minimal supervision.
  • Sound judgment in all decision making ability, even when dealing with difficult situations, where guests, Team Members and the overall long term profitability are not adversely impacted.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and make quick judgment decisions.
  • Analytical skills in understanding beverage costs, labor costs, managing to KPIs (key performance indicators) and administering a departmental budget and full monthly P&L responsibilities.
  • Previous management experience within a collective bargaining unit organized department, with thorough understanding of progressive discipline and properly managing to a union handbook
  • Complex understanding of station and floor shift allocation within bided shifts, managing labor to demands and ensuring Four Diamond guest service while meeting or exceeding appropriate KPIs (key performance indicators).
  • Possess or obtain a California Food Handler Card.
